Project Type: Hospitality
Client: YuGroup
Location: Midland Park, 159 Lambton Quay, Wellington Central
Astoria Café, an iconic Wellington landmark, received a remarkable transformation under the skilled hands of Ironhorse Construction for our esteemed client, YuGroup. This project not only breathed new life into a cherished community establishment but redefined its essence.
The refurbishment of the iconic Café at Midland Park, 159 Lambton Quay, was a momentous undertaking. The café underwent a complete transformation, beginning with the total strip-out of its previous setup. In its place, a new design emerged, featuring an Italian-styled restaurant & bar, complemented by a separate coffee kiosk.
The front-of-house design unveiled a grand central bar with an impressive 4.5-meter stud height. This design created a sense of open-plan spaciousness, accentuated by industrial finishes in steel, solid plaster, and high-level mirrors, adding a touch of sophistication.
Behind the scenes, the back-of-house area revealed a compact state-of-the-art kitchen, complete with a walk-in cool room, ensuring seamless service and catering to the evolving demands of the clientele.
Astoria Café, now reborn as an Italian-styled restaurant & bar, stands as a testament to Ironhorse Construction's unwavering dedication to revitalizing cherished community establishments. This iconic project, executed with a budget of $1.5 million, not only reinvigorated a Wellington landmark but also opened its doors to a diverse and dynamic clientele in a changing work environment. It's a testament to our ability to blend modern design with functionality, ensuring that every project we undertake is a harmonious blend of old and new, tailored to meet the expectations of both our clients and their patrons.
